Hello Srinivasan,
There are several motors installed in the plant , motors have spare parts listed out in the BOM list
In plant structure (IH01), the Motors will be Equipments and the BOM list will be Equipment BOM. See this picture.
For some motors there are spare parts
The pink colored material codes shown above (as Equipment BOM), will be the spare parts in MM module inventory reports (MMBE etc) showing the stocks in various stores.
whole motor as a replacement in inventory
Here you are indicating that the Motor also has a Material code. Say 50610800000001, In this case there is another option for you to create the above BOM as Material BOM instead of Equipment BOM. And then you need to put this Motore code in the Construction type field of the Equipment master of Motor 30021990. In this case it will be like this in IH01.
Also your description indicates that there are spare Motors for Replacements. These Motors also to be created as Equipments and should be put under a Functional Locations say
1. Spare Motor -Ready and
2. Spare Motors - Defective
Then comes the issue of Serialization of the Motors. Serialization in this case can be understood as Material Code + Serial number is an Equipment number. This mostly helps in physical identification of each Motor. There are alternative methods for physical identification without going for Serialization. That is you give the Motor identification number in the Technical ID field of Equipment master.
